Former Installations of the pottery factory named - Cerâmica Vieira, property with enormous Heritage and Historic value, located by the sea, in the heart of the city of Lagoa, inserted in Urban Area/Central Spaces of Level I according to the Pdm (Municipality Plans):
In the central spaces of level I — Vila de Lagoa on urbanized land, the area to be subject to the subdivision project or the edificability to the plot is subject to the following edificability indexes: a) The maximum occupancy index (Ii): 70 %; b) Maximum utilization index (Iu): 1.5; c) For reconstructions, expansions and new constructions, the height of the maximum facade is that of the building to be replaced or of the tallest building on the same street front between immediate transversals, provided that, in this circumstance, article 59 of the Rgeu, under no circumstances exceeding 4 floors, or 12.5 meters; d) Exceptions to the provisions of the previous paragraph are tourist developments such as hotel establishments, for which 4 floors or 15 meters in height are allowed.

Cerâmica Vieira was founded in 1862 by Bernardino da Silva, born in Vila Nova de Gaia and has remained in the same family for 155 years. The current owner, António José da Silva Martins Vieira, born in Lagoa, belongs to the fourth generation and his daughters, Partners, to the fifth generation, Leonor Vieira, Teresa Vieira and Manuela Vieira. It is a mandatory stop for all who visit Lagoa and is, above all, an 'ex-libris' of the Municipality and the entire island of São Miguel. At the factory, visitors can follow the different stages of the process of making tableware and tiles, among other items. From modeling, painting and baking in the oven, you can even watch the artisans at work. In its facilities, chinaware predominantly made on the potter's wheel and handcrafted tiles are produced, using characteristic decorations where blue is the dominant color. The artisanal manufacturing process has been maintained since the beginning of the factory and its decorations. Inside the premises there is a store where products called 'Louça da Lagoa' can be purchased.
